Turning to economic data, US durable goods orders in August fell 0.2% mom, while new home sales rose 28.8% mom to a five-month high of 685k in August.
shares of Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN and Microsoft Corporation MSFTwas meanwhile trading slightly lower on Tuesday.
That Nasdaq100 up 0.16% to close at 11,271.75 on Tuesday during the S&P500 fell 0.21%. That Dow Jones fell 126 points to settle at 29,134.99 in the previous session.
Major sectors of the S&P 500 ended mixed, with energy stocks posting the largest gains on Tuesday. Meanwhile, consumer staples and utilities stocks were among the worst-performing stocks in the previous session.
The Chicago Board Options Exchange’s CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) rose 5.6% to 34.06 points.
