Swiatek became the youngest player to win three Grand Slam singles titles since then Maria Sharapova took her third of five in 2008.
It was two-time French Open winner Swiatek’s first Grand Slam title on a hard court and the 21-year-old is the first Pole to win the US Open.
Meanwhile, Jabeur became the first Arab woman to reach a Grand Slam final with this match. She also added another line to the history books in New York, becoming the first African woman to reach the US Open.

“I really had to stay calm and focus on goals and it was a challenge in this tournament,” Reuters quoted Swiatek as saying during the on-pitch trophy ceremony.
“It’s New York; it’s so loud, it’s so crazy. There were so many temptations in the city. I’m so proud that I was able to handle it mentally,” she added.
Swiatek rose to world number one following the Australian’s retirement Ash Barty March. She won 37 consecutive games including the French Open.
“Since we grew up in Poland, it’s not so sure for us that we will be tennis Superstars,” she told ESPN, while Polish tennis fans dressed in white and red shouted “Iga! Iga!”
Despite the defeat, Wimbledon finalist Jabeur will regain her number two rankings when the tournament concludes on Sunday.
“I really tried, but Iga didn’t make it easy for me,” said Jabeur.
