
South Korea-based Yonhap News Agency reported the official government YouTube channel was hacked on Saturday.
What happened: The news agency said around 3:30 a.m. the YouTube channel was hacked and renamed “SpaceX Invest.”
It later broadcast a video featuring the CEO of billionaire Tesla Elon musk talk about cryptocurrency.
According to a screenshot posted by the news outlet, the video clip was edited from an old interview musk gave Bloomberg News.
in the video, musk was shown talking about how his companies had bought Bitcoin BTC/USD as a “small percentage” of their cash assets and said his automaker accepts Dogecoins DOGE/USD.
The agency reported that an official from the government’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, who manages the YouTube account, became aware of the situation at 6 a.m., took security measures, and restored the account at 7:20 a.m

The officer said the YouTube account ID and password were stolen.
Google later confirmed that the channel had been hacked. The Google Korea office is investigating the cause of the incident.
Lee Jian from the South Korean daily JoongAng Ilbo reported The YouTube channel has around 262,000 subscribers and actively posts videos on government policies and current events.
It is the third South Korean government-run YouTube account to be compromised in the past two weeks.
The Tourism Authority’s YouTube channel was hacked twice, once on Thursday and once on Friday, and suspended until Sunday, JoongAng Ilbo reported.
