
Leader of the Conservative Party Liz Truss defeated former chancellor Rishi Sunak Monday to become the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
After a protracted internal campaign triggered by this summer Boris Johnson’s After resigning in July, Conservative Party members elected Truss by a vote of 81,326 to 60,399 over their rival
What happened: After months of scandal, Johnson was ousted from office in July. This week he and Truss Queen will be visiting Elizabeth II‘s residence in Scotland, where Johnson will hand in his official resignation and Truss will be asked to form a government.
