Is AI the new way of everyday business?

Across the globe, businesses small and large have always been the cornerstone of the economy. And historically, these entities have run on one central component: people. Employees performed tasks, solved problems, and kept operations flowing.

But now, modern times are beginning to influence that human-led system in another way. It’s no longer about manual labor. Instead, it’s about making space for a robot. That robot is called artificial intelligence (AI).

AI in the business

AI is quietly becoming an integral aspect of the business world, rapidly changing the way operations are managed within a company. From automating processes to crunching data in a split second that humans alone can’t, it’s rapidly shifting how companies think about productivity. For many employers, AI represents efficiency at scale, reducing the tactical work so employees can focus on other tasks like strategy and creativity.

While AI is nothing new, it’s an ever evolving innovation that changes and dominates industries everyday. As far as the business sector goes, the use of AI has never been higher, with a recent survey claiming that approximately 78% of organizations rely on AI for at least one business function. Most report using the robot for tasks like marketing and sales, followed by service operations.

Humans in jeopardy

AI is undoubtedly promising. But as it continues to spike more, what happens to the people in traditional businesses?

As critics urgently warn, AI is advancing at an unbeatable speed, and it is expected to fundamentally transform the global workforce by 2050. As a result, the need for particular jobs will diminish, with careers in tech, data entry, and customer service likely to experience the burden first.

Beyond the displacement of jobs, concerns like integrity and privacy risks are other potential implications of adopting AI in the business. Employers will start to question whether they are rooted in authenticity, and if working with a robot might cause security challenges.

As it shows, people and their futures will be left vulnerable should AI be the next chapter to business systems.

AI as opportunistic

Still, another way to view this shift is as an opportunity. History shows that technological advancements often remove some roles while also creating new ones. In instances like the computer, it greatly changed office work, leading to whole careers in IT and software.

Brian Sathianathan, Iterate.ai Co-Founder, would argue AI may follow in that same trajectory.

“The advancements that AI is bringing to the workplace are already here, so if you want your business to succeed in this changing environment, then now is the time to think about how you can embrace AI rather than fight it,” he says.

On another bright side, the introduction of AI allows current employees to learn new skills, while also leveraging the toolkits they already have. If AI and humans are to work together, the results could look game-changing, and something completely different than what the business has seen before.

“If AI is able to replace common tasks done by your employees, start to think about how you can train your employees to use these skills to assist with everyday tasks, and how they can elevate their skillset to think bigger picture,” Sathianathan adds.

In other words, businesses should view AI not as a replacement, but as a tool to unlock potential. Training employees to partner with AI tools, whether that means learning to prompt a chatbot effectively or analyze AI-generated reports, can rethink how businesses streamline workflow.

Looking ahead

So, is AI the new way of everyday business? In many ways, yes. It’s already embedded everywhere.

But still, the story is not just about AI. Rather, it’s about how businesses choose to proceed and work alongside it to maximize value.

The businesses that are triumphant will likely be the ones that can prepare their employees for the technological wave that is already at its peak. Adaptation, flexibility, and a willingness to reimagine the business structure will be the critical factors in helping everyone in the ecosystem thrive.

All in all, AI is here to stay. But it’s not just a means of taking over the businesses. It’s a question about how businesses and their people will rise to meet the overwhelming change.
