MILBURN The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s updated guidelines for opioid prescribing reflect the Patient Reporting Act, which originated in New Jersey and has expanded to 18 states.
“We are encouraged that the new CDC Guidelines Recommend and emphasize the importance of physicians having a conversation with patients at the time of prescribing an opioid to warn of the risks of dependency and addiction; and to discuss the use of non-opioid alternatives for pain relief prior to prescription. These conversations save lives,” said Elaine Pozycki, chair of the Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey (PDFNJ).
