American President Joe Biden thinks his Russian counterpart Wladimir Putin will not use a tactical nuclear weapon his war against Ukraine.
What happened: “I don’t think he’s going to do that,” Biden said during a call interview with CNN on Tuesday, answering a question about how realistic he thought Putin was about using a tactical nuclear weapon.

“I think it’s irresponsible of him to talk about it, the idea of a world leader of one of the largest nuclear powers in the world saying he could use a tactical nuclear weapon in Ukraine,” Biden added.
Biden berated the Russian president as a “rational actor who has made a significant miscalculation,” adding, “You listen to what he says. If you listen to the speech he gave after that decision was made, he talked about the whole idea – he had to be the leader of Russia, uniting all Russian-speaking people. I mean, I just think it’s irrational,” Biden said.
This comes days after a media report suggested that NATO had reportedly warned its members about it Putin could test a massive nuclear torpedo called Poseidon. The test will be carried out near the Ukrainian border in the Black Sea to show Putin’s willingness to use weapons of mass destruction, it said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also warned against it Putin would not survive a nuclear attack if the latter decided to use such weapons in the war against Ukraine.
