DENVER, Sept. 29, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Research Tool & Die Works, Inc. (RT&D), a family owned supplier of high quality electrical hardware to the US and Canadian Navy, has been acquired by Fairbanks Morse Defense. Carson-based RT&D was exclusively represented by Raincatcher during the sales process.
Founded in 1944, RT&D operates two manufacturing facilities on its campus in Carson, California, where it designs and manufactures hardware products for direct sale to shipyards.
RT&D has a long and respected partnership with the US Navy dating back to 1945. In 1990, the US Congress commissioned RT&D to solve corrosion problems on connecting straps on US Navy ships.
Founded in 1944 by Fred Perrault, the company was later owned by son Ray Perrault and his wife Karen Perrault. Karen, who served as CEO, had been with the company for more than 50 years and recently announced her retirement, prompting the sale of the company. Rounding out the management of RT&D were Fred’s grandsons Kevin Perrault and Tami Johnson.
The Perrault family decided to sell the generational business because their mother was ready to retire, but at the same time the company was enjoying its most successful year ever.
“This whole process was one scary decision after another. One of the first was choosing Raincatcher to guide us through this process,” said Kevin Perrault. “I think that was a fantastic decision that made the difference. The entire team was friendly, professional and attentive to every detail. I will always be a glowing recommendation for your company as a whole and all of you as individuals. “
The deal was exemplary for Raincatcher as it came close to his mission to serve American business owners. Succession planning is never an easy task for an entrepreneur and we were honored to help this multi-generational company find its perfect transition.
