NEW YORK, Sept. 28, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Today, the First Responders Children’s Foundation (FRCF), a national nonprofit that supports children of first responders and their families, announced that 343 deserving children whose parents are first responders , around the world The United States has received a total of more than $1 million in grants. Recipients are the children of firefighters, police officers, paramedics, paramedics, and 911 dispatchers. Many of their first responder parents made the ultimate sacrifice or were injured in the line of duty responding to COVID-19, wildfires, shootings and acts of terrorism, including 9/11, and the subsequent search and recovery efforts at the World Trade Center location.
“For the past 21 years, First Responders Children’s Foundation has awarded college scholarships to children of first responders, and we are proud to announce our largest award ever, 343 individual scholarships totaling more than $1 million,” said Jillian Crane, President and CEO of the First Responder Children’s Foundation. “Our 2022 grantees come from across the country and their parents serve in all first responder professions, but they have one thing in common: They understand their parents’ commitment to helping people and strive to give back to their communities to help them to honor. “
2022 Scholars are pursuing post-secondary education at colleges, trade schools, or post-graduate programs at institutions across the country with majors in a range of subjects such as engineering, mathematics, marine sciences, nursing, cybersecurity, economics, theatrical arts, criminology, and more. Awards are based on financial need, academic merit, demonstrated leadership, excellence in arts or sports, and community volunteering.
