CAMDEN, NJ, Sept. 19, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Cooper University Health Care and the MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper today announced a new $2 billion expansion in the city of Camden, where they were founded 135 years ago Founded. Joining Board Chairman George E. Norcross III, Co-CEOs Kevin M. O’Dowd, JD, and Anthony J. Mazzarelli, MD, JD, and the Cooper University Health Care Board of Trustees were Camden County native Kelly Ripa. Governor Phil Murphy and former Governor Chris Christie at the announcement at Camden, South Jersey’s only academic health care system and the market-leading MD Anderson Cancer Center in Cooper.
The new investment — the largest in Camden County history — will dramatically expand the Camden Academic Health System campus to meet current and future projected demand at Cooper University Hospital and the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Cooper.

The $2 billion expansion will add three new clinical towers with more than 100 new private rooms. The new, environmentally responsible facilities will incorporate new technology and innovation to provide advanced care and support, and expand education and classroom space in South Jersey’s only academic healthcare system, which will help attract and retain the best specialists and medical professionals.
