FOREST CITY, NC, Sept. 15, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Efforts to support nonprofit organizations in western North Carolina continue SECU Foundation Awarded a $40,000 scholarship Grahamtown team in Rutherford County. The nonprofit organization provides programs and services that support the revitalization of the Grahamtown neighborhood in Forest City.
The Grahamtown team has supported the community since 2005 through a variety of programs including housing, youth services, community beautification, and recovery and emergency food programs. The grant will help the organization plan for future growth by supporting program expansion, board and employee development, and succession planning.
“This wonderful non-profit organization demonstrates great care and concern for the Grahamtown community through its mission and ongoing efforts to promote positive and healthy change,” said Kim Hollifield, SECU’s regional senior vice president. “It is inspiring to see what they have achieved through the efforts of those who have come together to help one another. We are very pleased to support and highlight the good work the Grahamtown team is doing in this area.”
“Our goal is to help the Grahamtown team create great programs that help people in need,” said Kisha McDowell, executive director of the Grahamtown team. “The Healthy Homes Community Revitalization Project is our opportunity to show our community that we are with them and that there are people who care about the way Grahamtown residents live, where they raise their children and the make their families and homes safe. The SECU Foundation may never really know the impact, but I pray that they will see the results of every dollar put into the Grahamtown community as those dollars will transform the lives of generations to come.
