According to a senior pro-Moscow separatist, Ukrainian forces are attacking the Russian-held town of Balakliia in the Kharkiv region.
What happened: A “counterattack is underway and … our forces are having some success. Let’s leave it at that”, Governor of the Lugansk region Serhiy Gaidai Ukrainian television, without giving exact locations, told Reuters reported.
In a regular status report on Wednesday Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s forces said his military attacked seven command points Wladimir Putin‘s army and 13 “objects of concentration of Russian manpower”, without specifying where.

It added that the armed forces successfully repelled Russian attacks on various cities of the Donetsk region, including the strategic city of Bakhmut.
That came after Serhiy Leshchenkoan aide to Zelenskyy, tweeted earlier Tuesday that “great news” was coming from the president about the operation in the northeastern Kharkiv region.
UN call for security: Meanwhile Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres called for the “safety” and “safety” of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and laid out concrete steps for both countries to demilitarize the area.
He said the first step is for the Russian and Ukrainian armies to refrain from military activity in and around the facility. “As a second step, an agreement should be reached on a demilitarized perimeter.”
“Specifically, this would entail a commitment by the Russian Armed Forces to withdraw all military personnel and equipment from this perimeter and a commitment by the Ukrainian Armed Forces not to move there,” he said.
