Five-time US Olympic gold medalist and team captain Jesse Smith returns home to assume the position of executive director of the water polo program at Coronado Aquatics Club. Jesse brings an abundance of energy and a strong desire to return the NADO program to a club of excellence that also serves the community that supports it so passionately.
San Diego, California, September 05, 2022 –(PR.com)– The Coronado Aquatics Club has named Coronado native and five-time Olympic gold medalist Jesse Smith as its new General Manager. Smith has represented the United States in water polo for nearly two decades.
“I grew up swimming in Coronado and I’m so excited to be back,” Smith said. “I look forward to working with the amazing local team and using the knowledge and skills I’ve developed playing water polo at all levels around the world to help develop the next generation of water polo players.”
“It’s exciting to be part of the rebuilding of a club with such prestige and legacy in a close-knit, historic community,” said Jamie Reid, Board Member, Coronado Aquatics Club. “I can’t wait to see the development that Jesse, Coach Laci and the Board are putting into motion.”
Smith was a member of Team USA at the 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016 and 2020 Olympics and won a silver medal at the Beijing 2008 Games. In addition to his Olympic honors, Smith was a four-time member of the gold medal winning team at the Pan American Games (2003, 2007, 2011 and 2015) and part of a fourth place finisher at the 2009 World Championships. He is passionate about advancing the game of water polo and its benefits with a diverse audience to share.
