TORONTO, ON, CANADA, June 21, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — On July 1St, more Canadians are planning to celebrate Canada Day from home rather than travel. High fuel costs have limited their options, according to the latest survey of leading online travel agencies CheapOair.approx Canada, which asked Canadians how they wanted to spend the holidays while also looking for the most iconic way to celebrate.
“As we prepare to host Canada’s 155thth th birthday, we wanted to know how people are feeling about their travel plans for the occasion,” said Daniel Hayter, Senior Product Manager for CheapOair.ca. “It is evident that rising fuel costs will keep families closer to home.”

With gasoline prices setting records for all-time highs, it’s not surprising that people are becoming more selective about their driving habits. Notably, over 70% of respondents said runaway gas prices have impacted their Canada Day plans.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, over 44% of Canadian respondents felt Canada Day was best spent with a BBQ, followed by 22% who prefer fireworks to camping (18.5%) and water sports (14th to 14th May). .9%) considered. ).
Many agree that no Canada Day is complete without participating in specific activities. Of course, this begs the question of what is the most quintessentially Canadian thing about Canada Day. A majority of Canadians (53.9%) say it’s not hockey but crickets, followed by decorating their home with Canadian flags (28%), jumping into a pool (10%) and Last but definitely not least, eating poutine (8.2%).
These key findings were reported from a study conducted by CheapOair.ca over a week…
