HM King Mohammed VI received on Monday a phone call from Turkish President Tayeb Recip Erdogan.
During this conversation, the Sovereign and Turkish President Tayeb Recip Erdogan discussed the latest developments in Middle East, particularly developments in the Palestinian issue.
President Erdogan welcomed the role of HM the King, President of Al-Quds Committee, at the service of this noble cause and in favour of preserving the holy sites.
The two heads of state also highlighted the quality and depth of the longstanding bonds and cooperation between Morocco and Turkey.
On this occasion, the Turkish president invited HM the King for an official visit to Turkey.
Diplomatic relations between Turkey and Morocco were established on 17 April 1956 by a joint declaration of the Governments of two countries.
Due to Morocco’s political and economic stability, Turkish companies have found Moroccan markets particularly attractive.
Free Trade Agreement between the Republic of Turkey and the Kingdom of Morocco was signed on 7 April 2004 in Ankara and entered into force on 1 January 2006.
With Turkey-Morocco FTA, tariffs and non-tariff barriers were eliminated in trade between the Parties. Also, Agreement regulates numerous subjects such as sanitary and phytosanitary measures, state monopolies, intellectual property rights, internal taxation, public procurement, balance of payments, anti-damping, safeguard measures and rules of origin.
Turkish-Moroccan economic relations develop steadily. Total amount of Turkish investments in Morocco is around 240 million USD. The share of Turkish firms in the construction and infrastructure projects materialized in recent years in Morocco is around 1.4 billion USD.
