The popular star Bernie Hamilton playing the role of a no-nonsensical policeman in the Starsky and Hutch in 1970s died. The star was aged 80 years when he left this world.
It is reported that the great actor died as a result of cardiac arrest on Tuesday night. He lost his breath at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, as reported by Raoul Hamilton, Bernie’s son. Born in the year 1928 in Los Angeles, Bernie left his home and ran way at a very young age and ended up staying at some person’s garage along with completing his education from the Oakland Technical School. At this school, the star played football with great enthusiasm and also got a liking for acting.
Staring with a very small role in the famous “The Jackie Robinson Story” as baseball player, Bernie appeared in over 60 films and television serials. He also won the critical praise for the film ‘One Potato, Two Potato’, a low budgeted one in the year 1964. In this movie, the actor played the role of black man who was involved with some white woman. Some of the movies in which Hamilton showed his acting skills in the most brilliant manner includes ‘The Devil at 4O’Clock’, ‘The Swimmer’, ‘The Organization’, ‘Walk The Walk’, ‘Synanon’ and ‘The Young One’. He even played a guest role on television serials before actually turning to the regular Starsky and Hutch, starring David Soul and Paul Michael Glaser as well.
As per his son, Bernie played a brusque Harold Dobey that helped him to have wide recognition. After the Starsky and Hutch, the actor spent about 20 years in music business thereby producing the gospel and R&B records under Chocolate Snowman record label. His son also stated that at the Cedars-Sinai Hospital, a doctor came to Bernie and said that he remembered the actor from the popular Starsky and Hutch. Bernie was Chico Hamilton, the famous jazz drummer’s brother.
