According to a report from a metrics company based in France, users of Microsoft Corp’s Internet Explorer in Europe fell below 60% with at least 31% of them shifting loyalties to Mozilla Firefox.
Firefox, in the meanwhile posted losses after the introduction of Chrome and Opera and are unable to regain lost ground. The month of August saw Microsoft’s IE falling below 60%. While it regained slightly in September, the months of October and November saw a steep fall and IE ended even below its August figures, according to an Applied Technologies Internet of Merignac, France operated Web Monitor site, XiTi Monitor.
Internet Explorer, the browser from Microsoft fell by one percent since June and five percent since April this year. Firefox saw a fall of two percent since August and ended at 31.1 percent in November, which is the lowest figures ever since May 2008.
According to Net Applications Inc, a US based Internet metrics firm, drop in share of Firefox in the month of September can be attributed to users switching over to Google’s Chrome. However, Net Application research shows Firefox rapidly gained lost ground and roped in more users. This result contrasts XiTi’s conclusion that Firefox’s growth has completely stalled.
Tracking the gradual decline of IE by monitoring 40,000 sites predominantly in US, Net Applications said there was a fall of 70% market share in Internet Explorer, Microsoft Corp’s browser.
Opera, Europe’s lone native browser and Google’s Chrome are responsible for the poor performance of IE and Mozilla Firefox.
