As the X-Mas is arriving most of the people are planning to upgrade their home entertainment gear by purchasing a standalone Blu-ray disc player. As per the Screen Digest, the media analyst’s report, the today’s customer prefers DVDs and Blu-ray discs when it comes to watching his favorite movie. Gone are the days when the people used to rent VHS and other form of media to enjoy the show. Screen Digest speculates that by 2012 the European market will show a 25 percent increase as far as the demand for HD content is concerned.
With the coming of full 1080p HDTVs the consumers naturally tend change their preferences. Obviously, if someone has a full HDTV but doesn’t have a BD to play then he cannot unveil the full powers of the technology. By 2012 having a HDTV with a Blu-ray player will become a norm rather than being a style statement. In fact, this year also most of the European customers who already possess a HDTV are looking forward to grab a BD player for them but this dream is however seems to be left unfulfilled.
This is because of the shortage of the BD hardware. The sudden decrease in the demand for HD DVDs which are the best alternative to the Blu-rays has left the retail stores in chaos. Customers are demanding the BD hardware but unfortunately most of the BD players have been shipped to the more developed markets of US and Japan and consequently the European stores fall short of supply.
