Florida 12 November 2008 – The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency is facing a tough time as its employees called that they get sick from working with headquarters.
So the agency set an examination test of Radon and Mercury which be suspected to found in the agency building, beside the asbestos which was used in construction of buildings and it’s threatening health of people who live or work in building built before 1980.
In addition, Joyce Munie who manages the clean up process of the EPA agency said the agency’s reports proves that the agency’s branches were clean except from asbestos report which is missing including the asbestos inspection which should have been performed twice every year. Beside that the EPA presented reports shows the inspection results till 2001; which mean that the inspection hasn’t been performed after that.
Not mentioning that the asbestos toxic fibbers inhalation can cause several forms of lung diseases such as asbestosis and mesothelioma; and the most dangerous of them is Malignant Mesothelioma which is hard to be diagnosed in early stages and can reach the most advantages stage with out signs.
Actually the building has a large history of unsafely environment of work for employees, as in 1993, evidence of asbestos and the existence of underground storage tanks containing benzene were found. All three substances are known carcinogens. The employees reported their complains after they had suffering from many respiratory problems and mesothelioma signs, which make you your self suspect that it is true.
