There is jubilation and celebrations but no surprise. Barack Obama is the new president of America.
Any presidents winning speech is a much read and commented upon. Barack Obama made his first speech in Chicago after winning the presidential Election. It was a speech charged with passion and the fervor to do. A promise to all those who voted in the hope of change! A change for a better tomorrow! By the end of the speech the crowd was with Obama as they echoed his – “Yes We Can”
The opening sentences spoke about the dream of America, which lives on, he says empathically “We are, and always will be, the United States of America.”
This election of Obama as the president is indeed an’ arc of history’ a ‘bend ‘ towards hope and a better tomorrow. He thanked everyone for their role in his victory and ended by addressing the people “But above all, I will never forget who this victory truly belongs to. It belongs to you. It belongs to you.’
He remembered with gratitude how the simple people who believed in him gave him courage and their support. He says “Our campaign was not hatched in the halls of Washington.
It began in the backyards of Des Moines and the living rooms of Concord and the front porches of Charleston. It was built by working men and women who dug into what little savings they had to give $5 and $10 and $20 to the cause.”
Every person’s contribution is vital and necessary. He is conscious of the challenge ahead. He says ‘we celebrate tonight, we know the challenges that tomorrow will bring are the greatest of our lifetime — two wars, a planet in peril, the worst financial crisis in a century.’
He promised that there shall be anew America and we can be there. The audience reverberated “yes we can we can” Obama is Americas ‘hope’ for tomorrow
