The Accreditation Committee of the College of American Pathologists (CAP) awarded the accreditation ancient sciences‘ clinical site in Los Angeles, California, based on the results of a recent on-site inspection.
Altasciences has been informed of this national recognition and is congratulated on the excellence of the services provided. Altasciences’ Los Angeles location is one of more than 8,000 CAP-accredited facilities worldwide.

CAP, the first in the industry to offer a bioreservoir accreditation program, built the bioreservoir accreditation program on the principles of its laboratory accreditation program. The US federal government recognizes the CAP laboratory accreditation program, begun in the early 1960s, as equivalent to or more rigorous than the government’s own inspection program. There is currently no federal mandate for the accreditation of biorepositories.
The CAP Biorepository Accreditation Program, a three-year accreditation cycle, includes on-site inspections, desk reviews, and optional training modules and gap assessments. As part of on-site inspection, CAP uses accreditation checklists to provide a comprehensive, up-to-date draft of quality practices to assist bioreservoirs in improving their operations and quality assurance. In addition, a desk audit provides a remote review of a bio-storage facility’s quality management plan, specific procedures, and selected quality and process statistics. The program is designed to ensure the highest standard of patient care.
