Victoria (Seychelles), Geneva (Switzerland) – October 31st2022 – The Seychelles Government officially announced the launch of the SeyID Platform developed by WISeKey International Holding ((“WISeKey”, SIX: WIHN, NASDAQ:WALK), a leading cybersecurity company. The project delivers a new digital identity platform called “SeyID” which is linked to various national initiatives on e-government, e-tourism and e-health.
In 2014, WISeKey was selected as a partner by the Seychelles Government to provide technology and expertise on Public Key Infrastructures (PKI), digital signatures and their use in electronic transactions. PKI and all derived applications for authentication, digital signatures and encryption are undisputedly the most secure technologies to ensure the protection of personal identities and documents. The Seychelles Government has been internationally recognized for all its efforts in eGovernment and innovation technologies; In 2012 it was awarded an information communication technology prize for eGovernment by the United Nations and has since been considered a benchmark in the region.
With this new project, the Seychelles Government is trying to implement new solutions and services for citizens, including new e-government services, to facilitate access to digital identity through the use of smartphones and mobile apps.
