LOS ANGELES, October 29, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — To help in battle California’s With the ongoing drought, Angelenos and visitors from around the world learned how drought-tolerant plants and flowers like marigolds not only help pay homage to the family, but also serve as a reminder of the beauty of water conservation at the annual Día de Los Muertos festival today.

The Save Our Water Altar (erected for the Day of the Dead, the one ofrenda or offering, often in honor of a deceased family member) was presented at the event to demonstrate the perfect combination of sustainability and beauty using synthetic marigolds and drought-tolerant fruit for this all-important tradition. Visitors who came to the event were also encouraged to post photos of the Ofrenda on their social media accounts and share how sustainable practices like planting native flowers can be incorporated into their own lives. This way visitors who posted became eligible to win a $100 Gift card that could fund her own water conservation through drought tolerant landscaping in her front yard.
“As we prepare for a fourth year of drought, we all must continue to do our part to protect the environment,” Mohr added. “Autumn is an important time to highlight how saving water needs to become a way of life and something we practice year-round, rain or shine.”
