According to the lawsuit, throughout the class period, defendants repeatedly assured investors that the modernization of the continuous mining and continuous haulage (“CMCH”) at the Goderich Mine, the world’s largest underground rock salt mine in Ontario, Canada, was proceeding according to plan Significantly reduce costs and increase Compass’ operating results from 2018. Defendants’ statements, however, were misleading because they failed to tell investors that costs at the Goderich mine are increasing rather than decreasing. The Compass Class Action further alleges that the defendants also misrepresented the amount of salt that Compass was able to produce from the new CMCH equipment at Goderich and failed to disclose how the known and ongoing production losses were reasonably expected to impact their future operating income would decrease.
