A sinology camp for young scientists from different countries started in the east of China Zhejiang province 23 Oct. The study camp aims to promote traditional Chinese culture and people-to-people exchanges, and introduce a culturally rich and economically prosperous country Zhejiang to the world.
In the eight-day program, 15 young sinologists from 18 countries and 15 international students with sinology-related majors at Chinese universities will visit Shaoxing and Quzhou, two cities with long history and rich culture Zhejiang.
Their destinations include landscapes, heritage sites, businesses, and urban and rural communities that they can learn about first-hand of China Culture, history and their urge to modernize.
During their time in Quzhou, they visited the Quzhou Confucius Ancestral Temple and the Chinese Confucianism Museum, experienced the city’s intangible cultural heritage including the manufacture of white porcelain, and learned about Go culture at the Weiqi International Culture Exchange Center. They also toured traditional ancient villages, including Dachen Village and Nianbadu Ancient City.
Visitors also took part in a number of lectures, topic discussions and seminars during their tour.
Zhejiang Province was chosen as a destination for this year’s Sinology camp because it has rich culture and history and is an important demonstration area for of China quality development and common prosperity, said Jia DeyongSecretary General of the International Confucian Association, at the camp’s launch event.
Jia said he hopes participants can understand a true and fascinating China through the visit Zhejiang.
The camp was jointly organized by the International Confucian Association, Quzhou Municipality, Shaoxing Municipality and Beijing Language and Culture University.
