A comprehensive review conducted by the company’s research and development team concluded that TVGN-489 is expected to retain activity against newer variants, including XBB and BQ and their subtypes, which appear to be capable of overcoming some existing ones to circumvent prophylactic options and immunity.
TVGN-489 are highly purified cytotoxic CD8+ T lymphocytes (CTLs) engineered to recognize and kill SARS-CoV-2 infected cells. Enriched and expanded in the laboratory, these allogeneic, non-genetically modified CTLs recognize proteins from the entire SARS-CoV-2 genome, not just the spike protein.
