Boris Johnson is back in london to save his political career in Britain To win a second term as Prime Minister, Johnson has reportedly sought to replace Liz Truss as Prime Minister.
What happened: Truss announced her resignation on Thursday, six weeks into her tenure, after Britain fell into political and economic turmoil.
earlier this year, Johnson resigned as prime minister after several scandals. He was Prime Minister from 2019 to 2022. He is still under investigation.
Johnson, along with former finance minister Rishi Sunak and former Secretary of Defense Penny Mordaunt, is fight for the support of the legislature to take part in a vote to become the next prime minister, Reuters reports.
If just one candidate crosses the 100 lawmaker threshold on Monday, the rules say he will be declared prime minister.
In a recent tweet, Sunak announced that he would be taking part in the competition.

After the fall of Johnson’s government, Truss became first, Sunak second, and Mordaunt third in the race for leadership, after which Truss became Prime Minister.
Former Interior Minister Priti Patel tweeted that she fully supports Johnson in his potential return.
“Boris has a mandate to deliver our chosen manifesto and a proven track record of getting the big decisions right,” she said in the tweet.
