What happened: Vcontacts, a social networking app from Russian tech giant VK, is back on the App Store. Apple said the company has provided sufficient evidence that it is not “majority-owned or controlled by any sanctioned entity.” reported The edge.

“This developer’s apps have been removed from the App Store as required by law after the developer was repeatedly asked to provide documentation to confirm they did not breach UK sanctions. Upon removal, the developer has provided the necessary information confirming that they are not majority owned or controlled by any sanctioned entity,” Apple spokesman Peter Ajemian said, according to the report.
VKontakte is the Russian equivalent to Metaplatforms Inc.‘s META Facebook. In September, Apple has removed VKontakte and webmail provider Mail.ru from the App Store in response to UK sanctions.
The sanctions were prompted by the Bogus referendums in Ukraine by Russian authorities, according to to MacRumors.
