Wang Yang: Yang, the chairman of the Political Consultative Conference of the People’s Republic of China (CPPCC), is a leading contender for the premiership. He is fourth on the Politburo Standing Committee (PSC).
Hu Chunhua: Hu, the vice premier of China, is a key candidate for promotion to the PSC and could also become the country’s next premier.
Li Qiang: Li, one of Xi’s closest allies and Shanghai party secretary, is also considered a candidate for elevation to the PSC.
