The USA Ministry of Justice The Supreme Court is reportedly seeking an annulment Donald Trump’s Application for intervention in the Case of Secret Materials in Mar-a-Lago.
What happened: The DoJ said in a Supreme Court filing that the records were “extremely sensitive” and that it should allow an appeals court decision blocking access by the Special Master on the matter. reported CNN.
Citing a previous case, the DoJ wrote, “As this court has emphasized, courts should exercise caution before insisting on an examination of records the disclosure of which would jeopardize national security, ‘even by the judge alone, in chambers.'”
The ministry argued that the former president’s legal team incorrectly argued that the Supreme Court should intervene.
US Attorney General Elizabeth Prelogar said in the filing, “The best the plaintiff could find about the appellate jurisdiction in this case is that it’s a ‘difficult’ issue,” according to CNN.

Why it matters: It would take five judges to agree to grant Trump’s request, and the Supreme Court could act within days, CNN noted.
In early October, Trump’s legal team argued that the 11th Circuit lacked a residence permit Chief District Judge Raymond Dearie‘s Review of Secret Documents confiscated in Mar-a-Lago on Aug. Dearie is the special master in this case.
Prelogar, said the Trump-appointed Florida federal judge Aileen cannon “Fundamentally wrong” in appointing a special master and that the DoJ is appealing that decision in lower courts, CNN reported.
Trump praised Cannon on Truth Social, a platform of Trump media and technology groupwhich is to go public through a merger Digital World Acquisition Corp. DWAC.
