What happened: BeReal, which works with social media apps such as tick tock, Instagram and Metaplatforms Inc‘s META Facebook, has been downloaded over 53 million times. Despite this, only a few people actually use the app on a daily basis. according to a report In Sensor Tower, as of the third quarter of this year, only 9% of active Android installs open the app every day.

BeReal saw a steady increase in adoption throughout 2022. As of early September, the app saw about 14.7 million downloads, a 20% month-on-month increase from August’s 12.3 million.
At the time of writing, BeReal was ranked number one in Apple’s US App Store download chartcompared to tick tock‘s fourth and Instagramis fifth place.
Why it matters: BeReal followed Instagram and TikTok in terms of users who downloaded and actively used the app, the Sensor Tower report said. While Instagram had 39% of its active installs opening the app daily, TikTok was at 29%. Facebook came third with 27% snap inc‘s SNAP Snapchat with 26% on their heels.
BeReal has just 9% of its installs as daily users, and there’s room for growth as the app sees a steady increase in monthly active users, SensorTower noted.
