donald trump and his legal team are requesting that the U.S. Supreme Court issue a May 11, Document case Mar-a-Lago.
What happened: The former president’s attorneys said the 11th federal district had no jurisdiction to stay the special master’s review of the documents, court documents said seen by NPR.
In a motion to lift the order’s stay filed in the Supreme Court, Trump’s attorneys said, “In summary, the government has attempted to criminalize a records management dispute and now vehemently opposes a transparent process that provides much-needed oversight.” ”
The lawyers said the government’s move to protect what they called “allegedly classified documents” from the special master “shows exactly why the district court found a special master appropriate and necessary in the circumstances.”

Why it matters: Trump card received a legal blow at the end of September when the 11th federal court allowed the US Department of Justice to further examine the classified records from Mar-a-Lago – the former President’s Palm Beach, Florida estate.
Trump appointed Florida federal judge Aileen cannon earlier had denied a request from the prosecutor for a partial stay that barred the DoJ from reviewing the seized materials.
Cannon had previously been appointed Senior District Judge Raymond Dearie as a special master in the case.
Trump called Cannon “brilliant and courageous” on Truth Social, a platform of . Trump media and technology group (TMTG).
