Approval for Boeing’s 737 MAX 10 not expected until next year: – Press Release

  • Boeing Co B.A does not expect to receive certification for the 737 Max 10 before next summer, said a report, citing a letter from the Federal Aviation Administration expressing growing concerns about the company’s delivery date.

  • “Regarding the 737-10, Boeing’s current project plan calls for the 737-10 to receive an amended type certificate no earlier than the summer of 2023,” the report quoted two sources as saying that acting FAA Administrator Billy Nolen wrote in a letter to Senator Roger quoted Wicker, the top Republican on the Senate Commerce Committee.

  • Wicker proposed extending the deadline for Boeing to receive certification for the two new variants to September 2024 and hopes to include the proposal in an annual defense bill.
  • The report said it was unclear whether Congress was ready to approve the proposal. Nolen’s letter said the FAA could not provide an estimate as to when certification work for MAX 7 or MAX 10 will be complete.
