
In a Zoom interview with VogueSeth Rogen sat “rolling a just-rolled joint through his fingers.” He spoke of giving away some of his handmade vases to free up space in his closet for more.

“My journey with ceramics and with houseplants paralleled each other in a very beautiful way, it seemed like nobody had made a new one in the last 30 years,” said Rogen, adding that the quest for beautiful ashtrays for his own home he was compelled to become a serious potter. He soon began experimenting with ashtray designs and rolling trays, which became prototypes for some of Houseplant’s best sellers.
“I couldn’t be happier because the brand was really born out of what I was already doing.” During the pandemic, Rogen worked the clay in his home pottery studio. “Having my own kiln is like a real revelation in terms of learning and experimenting,” he said of the creative freedom that eventually led to his “gloopy” glazing technique, which recently emerged as one of them The coolest houseplant ashtrays.
