A top kids’ food is upgraded to appeal to adults by one of the largest fast-food companies in the world.
What happened: The happy meal was introduced worldwide by McDonald’s Corporation MCD in 1979. It has been known as a children’s favorite over the years, thanks in part to the toys that come with the meal.
McDonald’s is launching a new Happy Meal for adults in a collaboration with a leading streetwear brand.
On October 3rd, McDonald’s is launching the Cactus Plant Flea Market Box, an exclusive collaboration with Cactus Plant Flea Market.
The boxes will be launched for a limited time while stocks last. The classic Happy Meal Box has been redesigned for launch.
The Happy Meal for adults will contain either a Big Mac or 10 pieces of Chicken McNuggets along with fries and a drink. The toy in this case is a collectible figure exclusive to the Cactus Plant Flea Market box. Grimace, Hamburglar, Birdie and the new character Cactus Buddy are the four collectibles found in the adult Happy Meal.
“We’re taking one of the most nostalgic McDonald’s experiences and literally repackaging it in a new way that’s hugely relevant to our adult fans,” McDonald’s USA Chief Marketing Officer Tariq Hassan said.
Fans who purchase the Adult Happy Meal through the McDonald’s app will enter a contest to win limited edition Cactus Plant Flea Market x McDonald’s merchandise. A website will also sell goods.
