American President Joe Biden said on Tuesday that Ukraine had made significant progress towards Wladimir Putinbut it is not possible to say whether the war is at a turning point.
What happened: “The question is unanswerable. It’s difficult to say. It is clear that Ukrainians have made significant progress. But I think it’s going to be a long road,” Biden told the media after voting at a local polling station.

For the past week, Ukraine has aimed to liberate its occupied territory by encroaching on Kremlin forces and pushing them back in a rapid counteroffensive. president Volodymyr Zelenskyysaid in his evening address that so far this month around 8,000 square kilometers (3,100 sq mi) in the northeastern Kharkiv region have been liberated by Ukrainian forces.
Zelenskyy further added that “stabilization measures” have been completed in about half of that territory, “and in a liberated area of about the same size, stabilization measures are still ongoing.”
