COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., September 6, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Aleut Information Technology, LLC (Aleut) has been awarded a contract by the US Air Force to provide maintenance, development and support services for its existing Open Architecture Distributed Common Ground System (OA/DCGS) and Forward Processing Exploitation and Dissemination (FPED) platform – The United States’ Primary visual data aggregator for military intelligence.

Aleut will continue to rapidly generate software updates and add features that enhance platform functionality and empower operators.”
FPED is a platform that takes a wide range of data including videos, geospatial information, photos and more collected from aircraft in the field and uses the data with the help of subject matter experts around the world. These experts then take the images and identify items of interest (eg, weapons, vehicles, and troops). The annotated files are then shared with subsystems run by outside government agencies such as the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps, who use them to compile intelligence reports on the regions’ status.
Under the newly awarded contract, Aleut will continue to support various sites within the FPED network to deliver software and hardware updates and training, and work with operators to learn what features and functionality options they would like to see in future updates. Aleut uses human-centric design principles to research requirements and make recommendations to improve user experience (UX) for government approval.
