
Tesla Inc TSLA could consider Canada as the location for its next gigafactory. New reports of recruiter hiring in the country may indicate an announcement could be forthcoming.
What happened: Speaking at a shareholder event in August, CEO of Tesla Elon Musk common clues that the next Gigafactory location could be announced by the end of the year. Musk said Tesla could have 10 to 12 gigafactories around the world to ramp up production of its electric vehicles.
As they discussed the potential new Gigafactory, fans saw fans proclaim Canada as the location for the next factory.
“I’m half Canadian. Maybe I should,” Musk said.
A Tesla lobby registration in Canada also indicated that the company might be exploring a potential factory in the country.
Tesla has posted a job listing for a high-volume recruiter in Quebec, Canada, according to a report by Teslarati. The Montreal, Quebec recruiter’s job posting is similar to the wording used by previous recruiters at Gigafactory locations, the report notes. High-volume recruiters were hired in areas like Austin, Texas and Grunheide, Brandenburg, as well as locations near other Tesla Gigafactories.

A report from electr said Tesla has visited several locations in Canada for a potential factory.
