Endeavour, the Space Shuttle linked to the international space station will make it possible for many aspiring astronauts to live there from the start of next year. The shuttle was docked smoothly by Commander Christopher Ferguson. Though there was initial trouble with the antenna, the radar of his ship worked perfectly even as the two spacecrafts soared above India at a height of 212 miles.
The Endeavour is on a mission to fulfill the long awaited make over of the space station. The shuttle astronauts were welcomed abroad the space station by its skipper Mike Fincke who said that they were the crew who would help with the long awaited makeover for the house.
The arrival of the Endeavour was even more special to Gregory Chamitoff, Mike’s crew mate who is aboard the space station for the past six months, as this was his passage home.
The Endeavour was guided expertly by a backflip of 360 degrees by Ferguson as it came within several hundred feet. Chamitoff and Fincke covered all of the thermal shielding with zoom in photos.
Digital images numbering over 200 will help NASA determine whether the Endeavour sustained any damages during its Friday night take off, though nothing really out of order was noticed by the crew.
There was delight and cheer among officials at NASA about the way things was moving. Priority will be given to a much-awaited swap of crew members. The astronaut Sandra Magnus who will be on board for three and a half months will replace Chamitoff.
