According to Google map latest prompt; crowdsourcing data is necessary to obtain turn-by-turn Navigation

Google stated that companies use this information to acquaint you with the best on-road services

Dallas, TX, United States, 08/25/2021 / News Bureau /

Google map is coming up with the latest prompt that needs a permit click for turn-by-turn navigation. It says the application requires crowdsourcing data for better turn-by-turn navigation. Recently, users received a prompt on their mobile screens while using the Google Maps application.

The new prompt was very explicit, telling the users why it requires crowdsourcing for navigation purposes. However, some users seemed a bit conscious regarding the crowdsourcing data. It appears that users will not be able to enjoy turn-by-turn navigation by Google maps unless they do not agree to the new update and tap on the “start” button.

The dialog box appears on the screen once users tend to utilize navigation. It also carries along with the required information. The box informed the audience why crowdsource data is being taken and in what ways it will be used by Google maps for better users’ interface.

The dialog box appeared with the following detail;

“As you navigate, Google collects details, such as GPS location and the route you took. This data may be used to make information, including real-time traffic conditions and disruptions, visible to others and help them find the fastest route.”

Google stated that companies use this information to acquaint you with the best on-road services. The location data, including GPS location, is used to trace the traffic situations across your travel and your preferred route. This enables the Google maps services to provide you with the best real-life navigation and traffic updates.

Furthermore, it is also clear that Google makes use out of this data. In sensors such as Barometers and other transportation modes, your location data, including GPS, is collected. Google uses this information to provide you real-life updates.

It appears that Google is working to continuously update users about every bit of information they may gather for their better experiences. Earlier this year, Google displayed prompts regarding “protect your privacy” on Google photos, drive, and Gmail. Through the prompt on Google maps, the application allows people to agree to their conditions for crowdsourcing.

Upon clicking for turn-by-turn, navigation prompts appear, asking for either “cancel” or “start” by agreeing to crowdsource data. Upon clicking the “cancel” button, users will not be allowed to navigate their travel via turn-by-turn navigation. A simple step-by-step guide will only be displayed on their Google Maps application allowing people to use only static data on a map. The voice guidelines for every turn will also be disabled by clicking “cancel.”

The company last year shared that people regularly use Google Maps to travel across the world. An estimate showed that for over 1 billion kilometers daily, people use Google maps. The information, including crowdsourcing is hence used to provide the audience with better traffic navigation, route navigation, and more accurate information on every single turn.

The new turn-by-turn navigation prompt is appearing on iOS and Android devices. Google maps is an entirely free application to get the location around the globe. The recent prompt means you have to agree to their crowdsourcing in case you want to leverage the free map on your device.
