Safeway is a leading Fortune 100 drug and food retailers in North America which has been supporting a wide range of community and charitable programs including cancer treatment and research for a while. In a bid to promote awareness related to the disease and help patients suffering from breast cancer address their specific needs, this corporate has launched a fundraising campaign which will last for a month. This campaign will focus on women to enable better and innovative treatments for them.
With a spree of fund raising programs at their stores through the month, Safeway will add funds to their previous contribution to the tune of $41 million since the year 2001. Safeway’s breast cancer awareness and fundraising towards cancer studies in the month of October every year has almost become a tradition for Safeway according to its Chair and Executive Vice President Larree Renda. Larree says this foundation is striving to make a difference in the field of breast cancer which is one of the major issues of our times.
Safeway will donate the funds thus raised to several of the important cancer research centers especially in regions where they operate from. A website operated by the Carol Franc Buck Breast Care Center in San Francisco is funded by Safeway Foundation to the tune of $2 million. www.BreastCancerTrials.org is the site which offers an innovative outreach program to patients suffering from breast cancer. Patients with the help of his site can locate clinical trials pertaining to their condition.
