Listeria Outbreak: Cantaloupe Contamination is Deadliest Outbreak in a Decade

As many as 16 people have died from possible listeria illnesses traced to Colorado cantaloupes.

Experts predict that the illnesses are expected to grow, because the symptoms of listeria sometimes don’t show up right away. According to the Mayo Clinic, the symptoms include: fever, muscle aches, nausea, diarrhea. If the infection reaches your nervous system you could experience: headache, stiff neck, confusion or changes in alertness, loss of balance and convulsions. If you are experiencing these symptoms, you need to see a doctor immediately.
