Former VP Cheney Charged by Nigerian Government

Dec. 9, 2010 /EIN Presswire/ – Former Vice-President Dick Cheney has been charged by the Nigerian government for corruption over a bribe involving the oil company Halliburton when he served as its leading executive.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of Nigeria said that case comes from more than $180 million in bribes to Nigerian officials in order to win a $6 billion contract to build a natural gas plant in the African country.

Cheney’s lawyers denied the allegations, as the U.S. Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission have already completed investigations in the matter and found no wrong-doing by Cheney in his role as CEO of Halliburton.
