CALGARY, Nov. 05, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Today, OSTEN & VICTOR Alberta Tennis Center (ATC), Calgary’s premier state-of-the-art tennis facility, unveiled its new five-court bubble tennis facility. This project was made possible by Tennis Canada’s year-round community tennis court program presented by Rogers.
Calgary has been confirmed as one of the first of four communities selected to receive funding from the year-round community tennis court program announced earlier this year. The project, completed on schedule at ATC, which serves approximately 30,000 Calgarians, ensures that its five previously outdoor-only sites remain active throughout the fall and winter seasons, providing members and visitors with 70,000 hours of site access.
In addition to the year-round community tennis court program presented by Rogers, funding for the project came from various partners including the Province of Alberta, the Parks Foundation of Calgary, donations from the tennis community, and the ATC itself.
As a result of the expansion, the ATC will be able to expand several programs. The club’s high-performance training program is expected to accommodate 30 to 50 additional children per week and will meet Tennis Canada and Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) guidelines. The ATC’s SHE CAN PLAY girls’ tennis program, school tennis program, and wheelchair and autism programs also anticipate significant growth
The new bubble will also give ATC the opportunity to expand its events portfolio….
