BUDA, Texas, Nov. 04, 2022 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Hispanic voting has always been important in Texas, but never more so now that the U.S. Census estimates the state’s Latino population is larger for the first time than the white, non-Hispanic population.
That’s right: Latinos are the largest demographic in Texas today, making up more than 40% of the state’s population. That equates to two out of five Texans. Texas has the third-largest percentage of eligible Hispanic voters in the United States, after New Mexico and California
The two Texas gubernatorial candidates have so far spent almost $10 million reaching these voters in Spanish-language media. Because with those numbers, Latino voting will be critical in this race and many others across the state. The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officers (NALEO) expects nearly 2 million Hispanic voters will cast their ballots in Texas.
