Attorneys for the parents of 18-year-old Andrés Guardado, who was fatally shot multiple times by Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff’s Department Miguel Vega, have reached an $8,000,000 settlement against Los Angeles County over the wrongful death of her son. The settlement was approved by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors today. Plaintiffs Elisa and Cristobal Guardado are being joined in the matter by attorneys Adam Shea, Nicholas Yoka, Spencer Lucas and Ryan Casey of Panish | represented Shea | boy | Ravipudi LLP.
“While the settlement with Los Angeles County brings to a close more than two years of civil litigation, it does not bring peace to our family or justice to our son Andrés,” Cristobal Guardado said. “Peace and justice will not come until the ongoing investigations are completed and Deputy Miguel Vega is criminally held responsible for Andrés’ death. We will forever be grateful to our lawyers, our community and all the people who spoke out as advocates for justice for Andrés.”
On June 18, 2020, Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff’s Department Miguel Vega and his partner, Deputy Chris Hernandez, drove to André’s place of work in Gardena, California.
