TORONTO, October 29, 2022 /CNW/ – The John and Myrna Daniels Foundation donated a lead gift from $52 million Establishment of the Myrna Daniels Seniors Emergency Medicine Center at the University Health Network (UHN). Largest single donation for emergency medicine in Canada will raise the standard of emergency care for older adults across the country.
The extraordinary gift will build canada First purpose-built emergency center for seniors with full Level 1 geriatric emergency department accreditation as approved by the American College of Emergency Physicians. Every element, from the lighting to the non-slip floors, is designed to meet the unique and most complex needs of older adults. A comprehensive research and training program combined with dedicated rooms, all dedicated to geriatric emergency medicine, will make this center the first of its kind in the world.

Scheduled to open in 2025, Myrna Daniels Seniors Emergency Medicine Center will be housed at UHN’s Toronto Western Hospital and is being built at a critical time in history.
