BEIJING, October 29, 2022 /CNW/ — Capitalizing on its victory in eradicating absolute poverty, China is now ready for a new round of agricultural and rural development, as efforts to promote rural vitalization are in full swing.
The Report to the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party China (CPC) stressed that the country will continue to prioritize agricultural and rural development, consolidate and expand poverty alleviation achievements, and strengthen the foundations for food security on all fronts.
In his first inspection after the conclusion of the 20th CPC National Congress, Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed the comprehensive push for rural revitalization and tireless efforts to modernize agriculture and rural areas.
He said there is a need to prioritize, consolidate and expand the development of agricultural and rural areas of China Poverty alleviation achievements during his visit to Yan’an in the northwest of China Shaanxi Province and the city of Anyang in the center of China Henan Province from Wednesday to Friday.
Promote rural revitalization
Xi got off the train on Wednesday afternoon and went straight to Nagou Village in Yan’an.
In a local orchard, Xi chatted with villagers and inquired extensively about how they grow apple trees and pick fruit, the types of apples they grow, the prices at which their apples are sold, and what their income is. He also inquired about how the village had developed apple growing and other industries.
Xi said he lives in the north Shaanxi for seven years. During this time, he saw villagers living in harsh conditions and kept thinking about how they could improve their lives.
“Now villagers have jobs and stable incomes, while children have good educations and the elderly have health insurance,” Xi said. “Life just keeps getting better.”
