- Pacific BioSciences of California Inc PACB announced the launch of the Revio Long-Read Sequencing System.
- The company said its new Revio Long Read sequencing system with a List price of $779,000provides a 15x increase in throughput and enables customers to sequence up to 1,300 whole human genomes per year for less than $1,000 per genome.
- PacBio said its HiFi technology could be used for large studies in human genetics, cancer research, agricultural genomics and more.
- Revio will deliver shorter run times and a 15x increase in HiFi data.
- “By being able to see more of the genome, you can find more answers,” said Christian Henry, PacBio’s chief executive officer said Reuters.
- The company is also entering the “short-read” sequencing market with external beta testing of its Onso system.
- PacBio expects to begin accepting orders for Onso in Q1 2023 and expects to begin shipping the system upon completion of the system in H1 2023 external beta program.
- Onso is expected to deliver 500 million reads per run and will offer 200- and 300-cycle kits that enable paired and single-ended reads at a list price of $259,000 per system.
- “What you’re looking for in these diagnostic tests is a needle in a haystack. You’re trying to find this one mutated piece of DNA that could be a clue to early-stage cancer,” Henry said.
- Price promotion: PACB shares closed up 9.44% at $8.23 on Tuesday.
