OTTAWA, ON, October 26, 2022 /CNW/ – The government of Canada is committed to supporting small and medium-sized companies in placing their innovations and initiatives on the markets Canada and around the world.
Today, the Honorable Mary Ng, Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development announced 30 million dollars from the 2022 budget for the Coordinated Accessible National (CAN) Health Network.
The CAN Health Network is a national partnership of leading Canadian healthcare organizations and companies in the field of healthcare innovation Canada. It offers an integrated marketplace that makes it easier for businesses to compete and grow by providing:
- Access to buyers’ websites to validate their technology and solve challenges faced by healthcare organizations
- Accelerated and scalable innovative sourcing using existing policies
- an integrated marketplace that enables companies to grow rapidly both nationally and internationally
This is an important pipeline for health tech entrepreneurs – from testing their innovations to connecting with the government procurement process to helping them scale and grow.
Minister Ng noted that just three years after its launch, the network has proven its effectiveness – by working together to connect two Canadian companies involved in health technology with the Government of Canada Nova Scotiawhich used its cutting-edge innovation to create its online booking portal for COVID-19 vaccines.
To support the excellent work of the network, Budget 2022 dedicated another 30 million dollars to empower Canadian healthcare innovators to scale and expand their solutions and meet healthcare challenges right here at home. This builds on past investments from over 10 million dollars for the network and its partners.
